Your first mobile massage: exactly what to expect
Veronica Waite · · 6 min read · Guides
Most people's hesitation about a home massage isn't the massage — it's the logistics. Is my place big enough? Clean enough? What do I wear? Where do I... stand, while a stranger builds a table in my lounge room? Here is the entire experience, minute by minute, so nothing is awkward on the day.
Before I arrive
You'll get a confirmation when you book and a message when I'm on my way. The only preparation that helps: clear a floor space of roughly two by two-and-a-half metres — a living room or bedroom is perfect — and think about whether you want music or quiet. That's it. You don't need towels, oils, or anything else; it all comes with me.
The first ten minutes
I carry the table in folded (it looks like a large suitcase), set it up, and dress it with fresh linen and towels — about five minutes. While I set up, we talk: what's hurting, what you do all day, what you want from the hour. For a remedial session I'll also watch a couple of simple movements — reach overhead, turn your head — to find what's actually driving the problem. Set-up time is mine, not yours; your booked time is treatment time.
The undressing question, answered plainly
You undress to your comfort level — for most people that's underwear — while I'm out of the room, and you get under the top towel on the table. During the session you stay draped; I only uncover the area I'm working on. If you'd rather stay fully clothed, say so: plenty of effective work can be done through clothing, and assisted stretching is done fully dressed anyway.
During the session
Pressure is a conversation, not a test of endurance. Deep work should feel like strong, useful pressure — never something you brace against. I'll check in early; after that, one word ("softer", "deeper") is all it takes. If you fall asleep during a relaxation massage, that's a compliment, not a problem.
Afterwards
I pack down (another five minutes), give you two or three specific stretches if it was a remedial session, and email a health-fund receipt if you need one. Then comes the best part of a mobile massage — the part you can't get at a clinic: there is no drive home. Drink some water, stay on the couch, let the work settle. That first hour afterwards is where the session pays off.

Quick answers
How much space do you actually need?
About 2 × 2.5 metres of clear floor — enough for the table plus room for me to move around it. A living room or a bedroom with the bed pushed slightly over works fine.
Do apartments work?
Yes — I do apartments constantly. The folded table goes in lifts and up stairs. If parking is tricky in your building, mention it when booking and I'll plan around it.
Can I book for evenings or weekends?
Yes. Evenings are actually my most popular slots — a massage that ends at 8pm with no drive home is a different experience from a 3pm clinic appointment.
